Characteristics

The Scissors grab is available with lifting powers up to 120 tons Safe Working Load with volumes of well over 60 m3. Very suitable for handling coal, iron ores, pellet feed,  minerals, biomass, concentrates and bauxite. The Scissors grab is available with an open or half-closed shell.

Advantages

Compared to clamshell grabs, the Scissors grab combines highest average productivity with significant savings on the use of expensive trimming equipment. Also, the scissors grab is extremely suitable for the use on automated and un-manned installations. The Scissors grab is specifically suited for use with automated gantry cranes.

Stability on sloping surfaces, short cycle time, reduction of avalanching of cargo in the hold and enhanced safety in the hold are distinctive advantages.

Crane capacityIs the Safe Working Load of your crane in tons in grab duty, i.e. the total sum of grab dead weight and payload.

PayloadIs the nett load of cargo in the grab. Because it’s linked with the grab weight it will be filled in automatically.

Grab weightIs the Dead weight of your existing grab. Not sure? Check your grab manual, CE declaration, or on the ID plate on your grab.

Grab rope withdrawal lengthIs the length of the closing rope which needs to be pulled out in order to close the grab (not to confuse with the total reeved in grab rope length).
